Shower Prep

I started my morning off baking up some cupcakes for Sunni's baby shower this morning, and I just have to show them off. I am really proud of the way that they turned out.
I used light cocoa candy for the eyes and hair. I melted it and used a Wilton Candy bottle that I got from Micheals to make the shapes. I put them on waxed paper on top of cookie sheets. It worked really great. I think I will use that method again for other things. I bought the pacifiers that are in their mouths from Joann etc. They came in a bag of 24 which was perfect because that's how many cupcakes that I had. I did have to use pink ones though because I didn't want to spend another 10.00 just so they all were BOY colors.
After I was done with that I gathered everything I need to take with me tomorrow on the dining room table. I think I am now all set. I am really excited for the party. I hope that everyone will have a good time.

FINALLY

Today I got an update from our social worker today. Good news. Our home study will be done next week. Another good thing. We will be assigned to a new worker after 02/13. Hopefully that means that we will actually get somewhere, finally.

Boring Day, but I did a lot if that makes sense?

Today felt pretty boring, but I got alot done. It doesn't make sense, or does it? Here's what I did today.

Got up and ate breakfast, but I realized after I had my toast in the toaster that I had no butter so I had toast with peanut butter instead. I didn't have my normal glass of OJ, because I had heartburn again, ugh. I drank milk instead. I read my e-mail and looked for a job on the job boards. Then, I wrapped up the things I needed to ship today from yesterday's ebay sales. Next, I put highlights in my hair, and while I was waiting for it to be done I loaded the dishwasher. Once I rinsed my hair, I took a bath with my new bath fizz that I got from my birthday.
Once I was dressed, I took the garbage out of the bathroom and kitchen; both of them were over full. I ate my lunch (leftovers- finally the last serving from a few days ago). Then, I washed the dining room floor. After that, I went to the post office and the grocery store. Once I got home I checked my e-mail again and talked to a friend that called. I started watching the Food Network which caused me to get inspired. I decided to bake my lemon cookies and then went on to make jellybean pacifiers. I then sat down and started to knit another teddy bear.
So I really did do alot today, it was all just very boring stuff.

Fogo de YUMMMMM...

I had such a good time at Fogo de Chao today. I was a little concerned at first because the salad bar had some really different things on it like Hearts of Palm, Asparagus, and Crab Salad, but once the meat started to arrive at the table, I was in love with the place. My favorite cuts of meat were the Ribeye, Sirloin, and the Filet Mignon rapped in bacon.
Also, I really liked the the waiters in gaucho pants who spoke with thick Brazilian accents. I was even treated to a slice of Key Lime Pie for my birthday. It was decorated with 3 of the prettiest Pink Orchids. They even wrote "Happy Birthday" in raspberry sauce on my plate.
It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I will definatly be going back there when I have a job again. I'll take Jerry next time, because he would love it.

Fogo de Chao

There's a resturant in Downtown Minneapolis called Fogo de Chao. It's a brazilian steakhouse and my mother-in-law is taking me there for lunch tomorrow to celebrate my birthday. I am very excited! You have these little disks on the table. One side is green and one is red. Green means bring me more meat and Red means, I'm chewing, give me some time to digest. There are items that they bring to the table, like mashed potatos and cheese bread. They also have a salad bar that's included. I can't wait to go.
Today, I have been scrubbing the internet to find ideas for Baby Shower cakes for my sister-in-law's shower this weekend. I have some really good ideas. When I am finished I will post a picture. I hope the one I selected will turn out good.
Another thing I did today was spend a good 30 minutes orgainizing my grocery shopping list and getting my coupons together only to forget it on the table when I left today for my errands. I guess I will be grocery shopping tomorrow after my lunch with my mother-in-law.
On the not so fun side, I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning at 7:00am. Ugh! It's another leftover appointment from when I had a job.

100

Without even realizing it I have reached 100 posts in this blog. I never thought I would ever get there. It's not like I was trying to reach 100 posts, but it's satisfiying none the less.
Today has been a pretty boring day here at my house. My nose was a bit runny so I didn't use my CPAP last night and I can really tell. I am so tired today. I can't tell if it's because the cold has whiped me out or if it's because I didn't get great sleep last night.
Also, this morning I started out my day with a piece of cheesecake. It was yummy, but all day long I have been eating it feels like. I know that if I eat too much sugar then that's all I crave. Even after knowing that I still can't help it. I wish I had stronger willpower. I ask GOD for it in my prayers everynight, but it seems that I need to learn to create it on my own.

Happy Birthday To Me

I had a great birthday, with one tiny hiccup. So, I woke up to discover that I am coming down with a cold. My nose was runny and my head was a little plugged feeling. I didn't let that stop me though. I went to lunch with my mom at D Michael B's and then Melanie stopped by to give me a birthday gift. She got me some aqua globes to put in my plants. I think I need a few more and all of my plants will have them. Then, I can be even more lazy. Then Jerry got home with the most beautiful pink roses and a cake. So, I opened my gifts and then we went to dinner. I ate way too much food and I have leftovers for lunch. We got home, had pumpkin cheesecake and watched a movie. I did play a little with my new video camera, which was one of my gifts from my husband. It's really small, like the size of a digital camera, but it has a 3" LCD screen that swivals. It's great! I asked for one on my Christmas list. Once I figure out how everything works I will post some videos up here.
So, all in all I think I had a great birthday this year. My mother-in-law and I were talking last night and we realized that when Jerry and I met she was 33, which is the same age as I just turned. It's crazy to me that she had two teenagers and a 12 year-old at my age. My life could have turned out so different then it did. WOW...

My 32nd Year in Review

Well, tomorrow I will turn 33 year old. I thought I would take a moment to recap the things that have happened this year. Initially, I couldn't think of much, but then I remembered we took a few trips this year that were great.

The first trip was to New York and Boston. It was an amazing adventure for Jerry and me. We got to see so many cool things. I also got to ride on a train, which I had never done before.
The next trip we took was to Missouri. Even though we do that every year, this year was we took Naz and Tekaija with and took a side trip to Kansas City. We went to a Cardinals game and a Royals game as well as visited the KC Zoo. It was a really great time.
The last trip we took was up to my dad's in Duluth. We stayed the weekend and went fishing and spent time with my brothers, which I don't get to do a lot.

Some other things that have happened this year are the addition of two family members. Little Brice was born a few weeks ago, and little Isryl will be coming any day now.

Some things that haven't changed are the fact that we don't have children yet and we still live in the same house which won't change until I have a job again.

Searching for a Job

The 10 days since I was laid off from work have been quite busy. I usually spend most of the morning on the internet applying for jobs or creating a network on www.linkedin.com. It's amazing the people that are on there from my past jobs. It's a great way to reconnect and network to find jobs.
Jerry suggested it, and I am glad that I joined. There's people from all over the country. Even my penpal Niren joined and he lives in India.

I have also been doing a lot of knitting. I made myself a wool vest and a teddy bear for our new nephew that's due to be born anytime now.

She lifts me up

My little Tullah Bea has such a way of making me feel so much better. All she has to do is look at me with her sweet brown puppy doggie eyes and all the crappy stuff just disappears. It doesn't matter if she just ate one of my shoes, or knocked a full glass of juice off the coffee table with her tail; she can look at me with her sweet apologizing eyes. Why is that? Thank goodness for the unconditional love of dogs.

Layoffs?

Today was an aweful day. First, I wake up at 1:51am with a terrible headache. Then, I feel crappy enough that I stay home from work. I am dozing on the couch when the Director of my department at work calls with an HR lady to tell me that I have been laid-off. Great, there was no warning at all that they would be doing layoffs. I only get 2 weeks of severance and all the vacation I haven't yet taken. It's a bunch of crap. It's all because of the economy, they said. I am going to wallow for a day, then it's on to working on finding a new gig.

Horrible Day

Today has been a horrid day so far. All my muscles are tied in knots, I feel sleepy, and I slept very poorly last night so I am exhausted. I wish we still had a membership to lifetime fitness, because I would be there sitting in the hot tub. My second wish would be to have a message therapist at my beckon call.

Enough complaining...I am very proud of myself because last night I walked uphill on my treadmill for 32 minutes. I worked up a good sweat. It felt good to do something physical other then cleaning my house. It's been so cold that doing excercise outside is out of the question these days. Anyway, the plan is to try and do it again tonight. I might help my muscle knots relax a bit.

I am also excited for dinner tonight because I made my crock pot beef and beans. It's really yummy. It will last us tonight and tomorrow. Then on Friday, I get to plan another whole week of dinners. I actually like it because the sky is the limit, I can choose to have whatever I feel like having. Obviously, I will try to make it healthy.

Laundry, Still not done

Lisbon Laundry, originally uploaded by Pandorea.

I didn't get to far on my laundry mission from last night. Tonight, I am really going to do it, instead of make brownies and watch Girls Just Wanna Have fun on cable. I couldn't help it. I haven't seen that movie in so long. When it was finally over, I had forgotten about my laundry and was ready for bed. Today, there will be no distractions, I hope.
I don't mind doing laundry, I just hate putting it away. My husband isn't any better at it then me. Most times there are two laundry baskets full in our closet. One has clean folded clothes that we dig through, and the other has dirty clothes that need to be washed. By the time there's enough dirty clothes in that basket, all the clean stuff needs to be rewashed too, because it's all unfolded and wrinkled from being scavenged for clean undies which are enevidably on the botton of the basket. You would think I would learn...

My little sister Kirstie is getting so grownup. She turned 17 on Friday, and I remember the day that she was born. I was at school, and when I got home there was noone home and I had forgotten my key. I went to my friend Courtney's and called my grandma and she told me that Kirstin had been born. I was sixteen. Even though we are so far apart in age she's so much fun to hang out with. It's nice that we really never had that awkward sister stuff were we hated eachother like Melanie and I did. It's amazing to me that she has known Jerry her whole life. Since she's been alive he's always been around. I even have pictures of him holding her when she was a baby. I think that's really cool. They are as much siblings as she and I are, and you can tell because they tease eachother relentlessly.
