When my brother Jamison was a toddler he would cry when he was frustrated or upset, and it would sound like he was saying “boom-boom”. Our family eventually named any day that was frustrating or upsetting a ‘Boom Boom Day’. Well, yesterday our little girl had a ‘Boom Boom Day’.
It all started when she got up to get ready for church. She had spent the night with her cousins. I sent her an outfit that I guess has tricky buttons, so instead of undoing the buttons she pulled the shirt over her head and ripped the seam of the shirt. Auntie Sunni put a white t-shirt on her under the shirt, and all was well.
Then, at lunch LG spilled her drink all over grandma’s table. Although, grandma didn’t say anything to us about it, it seemed to have been a big deal for LG.
When she got home from grandma’s I had her clean her room, which is something she was not thrilled about, but she did it. Then, she was allowed to call her friend Ashlynn to play. Well, Ashlynn wasn’t home and she couldn’t find anyone else to play with. This was just too much for her to take I guess. The next thing I knew she was sitting on the couch with tears rolling down her cheeks. It was a Boom Boom Day…
She was so upset, but at least she was able to communicate what was wrong, and quickly overcame her grief. Then, she went on a bike ride to the park. After that, we went to dinner with Jerry’s softball team, had sherbet, and then off to bed. She was all smiles when I tucked her in.
